What Makes Specialty Coffee Different?

There are many coffee brands that use Specialty Coffee in their marketing not understanding the term.  Many confuse Gourmet, Special Coffee and Specialty Coffee.

To qualify as Specialty Coffee, each batch must meet the rigorous standards of the Specialty Coffee Association and receive a professional cupping score of 80 points or higher from certified coffee experts.

Specialty Coffee will have a certificate with a cupping score along with the batch profile.
