Our Coffee

For coffee to be considered Specialty Coffee, it must obtain 80 points or more according to SCAA standards. This is determined by tasting, uniformity and consistency.

To accomplish this, we take an artisanal approach to every step, from sowing the seed to roasting.

We start with the best cherries which are harvested at their perfect ripeness.

Then they are artisanally processed, fermented and dried to render a unique, single origin, specialty coffee.

Roasting in itself is a work of art used to bring out the best aroma and flavor.

Our Specialty Coffee is limited edition and unique, grown in the best Colombian lands.

Our Philosophy

Is to share the best Colombian coffee with Colombians, although this may seem obvious, the truth is that the best specialty coffee from our country  is mainly exported.

We are coffee culture ambassadors of great coffee. The main part of our work centers around teaching, helping average consumers acquire knowledge and good practices on proper preparation, which helps in bringing out the best aromas and flavors.

Likewise we help coffee growers produce Specialty Coffee by implementing programs and methods that improve farming and processes.

We made the effort to improve the quality of coffee not only in our coffee farm but in also other farms that value and make the effort to provide the best coffee.

This is done first by educating the coffee growers the differences between coffees and quality.  Improving the variety, farming methods and processes to create a specialty coffee.

Likewise, we realized that is very important to educate the consumer so that they can differentiate between coffees, quality and preparation.

history

Our Family

Has produced coffee for 4 generations, beginning with Andrés Abelino Lopez Gallego, our beloved great-grandfather. Entrepreneur, businessman, coffee grower who from the beginning has transferred all the knowledge and experience to the following generations, of which we are very proud.

We were raised in a coffee growing family in Aguadas Caldas, more than 1,500 mts. above sea level, Colombian region that produces the best Supremo coffees in the country.

To continue our studies, we moved to Medellin.  It was there that we realized that not all coffees are the same. Nevertheless, we learned about other cultures, worlds and lived experiences which we would have never known. Something that fascinated us was the world of wine, and the different flavors and quality between wines.

We learned that there are many factors that distinguish wines. Something that stood out was that quality starts from the variety, planting, terroir (climate, terrain, the elements, elevation), and then the process (fermentation and aging).

Upon learning this, we began to apply this knowledge towards coffee, thus we come to see that our coffee is recognized as Specialty Coffee. This is a new market in the world of coffee that differentiates the best coffees from the common ones.

We strive to improve the quality of coffee on our farm and also train other farms and the consumer.

Likewise, we realized that this type of coffee is not common in Colombia because it is exported to foreign countries due to the processes, work and costs to produce a Specialty Coffee.

Finally we recognized that we would have to bring this unique coffee directly to the consumer, thus bypassing the stores and distributors that tend to increase pricing making them unattainable.

Our history, our family, our work, our knowledge is given to you in "Maestro Artesanal" coffee, the fruit of love and passion for the best coffee whose logo is the coffee grower. Our great-grandfather, our grandfather, our father and the coffee growers who strive to provide the best coffee in the world.
